The prequel was released in 2018 and was a huge surprise hit all over the country. Furthermore, its OTT run achieved unprecedented fame and generated massive pre-release buzz ahead of Chapter 2’s release. Part 2 opened to the third highest opening in Indian cinema history, trailing only RRR and Bahubali 2: The Conclusion, earning 116 crores on day one.
Globally, KGF Chapter 2 did the unthinkable by grossing over 1200 crores at the box office. According to Cinetrak data, the film was a lottery for distributors, with its share standing at a whopping 535 crores. It is the profit made by global distributors after deducting the purchase price.
When compared to KGF Chapter 2’s budget of 100 crores, the share is more than 5X the production cost. Isn’t it incredible?
Meanwhile, producer Vijay Kiragandur stated a few months ago that KGF Chapter 3 will begin filming in October and will be released in 2024. However, Karthik Gowda, executive producer of Hombale Films, debunked all rumours and stated that work on the film will begin with an official announcement.
