Shubman Gill says his father won’t be happy after he got out on 112 in the Indore ODI against New Zealand.
Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India, has disclosed what Shubman Gill’s father Lakhwinder Gill told him when he failed to turn his starts into a significant total.
“So while Shubman was batting effectively and scoring a lot of fifties and sixties, he wasn’t really turning those scores into large hundreds. Are you going to show us simply drizzles, Shubman, or are you going to truly show us some rain and some thunderstorms?, his father asked. After India won a back-to-back series whitewash at home, Rahuld Dravid said to Shubman Gill, “I think his father will be happy because over the last month what he has truly made it rain.”
In the most recent home series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand, Shubman Gill has been brilliant. With scores of 70, 21, 116, 208, and 112 across four games, Gill has returned the team management’s faith in him and dispelled any nagging doubts about his selection.
The young player, who has three hundred in the previous six ODIs, claimed that his father would not be pleased with his dismissal in Indore with 22 overs remaining.
He will undoubtedly tell me, “I should have carried on in this game and look to have had another huge score in this one,” Shubman said to Dravid. “I don’t think he will be too happy with this game,” Shubman said. “Your father is a hard taskmaster. You are in capable hands, Dravid said.
Shubman Gill’s excellent performance in the home series was praised by Rahul Dravid.
“Incredible run directly from Bangladesh’s Test hundred. In the previous six games, you have now scored 300 goals, Dravid added.
“I think this is one of the formats where I really prefer to bat,” stated Shubman. This provides me some leeway to express myself, especially at first while I’m still getting acclimated to the wicket.
Shubman Gill added that he was unsure whether he would bat first against Sri Lanka in the first One-Day International in Guwahati because Ishan Kishan had just made a double century in the previous game.
Ishan just made a double hundred, so I wasn’t sure if I would play in the first ODI against Sri Lanka, but the faith you, Rohit bhai, and everyone else displayed in me gave me a lot of boosts as well, he remarked.
