Reviewing a flagship product from the firm that popularised the phrase “flagship killer” in the smartphone industry is intriguing.
Build
You’ll adore the enormous 6.7-inch display of the OnePlus 11 if you’re a little hungry about making the most of the space on your phone. A thin bezel blends into the curved screen. Few tech companies, in my opinion, have responded as swiftly as OnePlus to customer criticism about design and hardware upgrades. The iconic hardware feature is back since a tonne of customers expressed how much they missed the alert slider on the previous-generation phones. The smartphone has a stylish metallic power button on the right, just below the alert, and a volume rocker on the left.
The rear panel, which contains the triple camera system, has a lovely matte texture that I adore. Expected superlatives for an AMOLED panel are refresh rates of up to 120Hz and 2K resolution. On a smartphone, routine material consumption like endless Instagram loops, bizarre YouTube videos, and the most recent Netflix fixation looks clear. The OnePlus 11 also supports HDR 10+ certification, so the media I view has a respectable contrast range.
The handset’s two speakers, which enable Dolby Atmos, give a very well-balanced sound profile. While the maximum volume is adequate, other flagships undoubtedly have bigger volumes. Having said that, even at maximum volume on this phone, there is hardly any distortion.
The OnePlus 11 has an excellent camera setup. A 32MP portrait tele lens and a 115-degree ultra-wide lens assist the main 50-MP lens with OIS. Fortunately, at Ranganathittu Bird Sanctuary, I was able to use the telephoto lens as flocks of painted storks, spoonbills, and pelicans were circling during the golden hour. Even when zoomed in quite a little, the camera produces images that are sufficiently sharp.
The picture quality’s realistic colour and skin tonation is one of my favourite features. Despite the fact that we may have normalised face whitening through filters, flagships are expected to produce correct skin tones, and the OnePlus 11 excels at doing so. Additionally, it performs well in low-light conditions and produces some outstanding portraits.
One glitch I noticed with stills is that, while taking consecutive shots – without me tweaking any setting – it changes the colour tone to warm. Here are two pictures for reference.
While it may not deliver as flawlessly as maybe the Google Pixel 7 Pro, it’s still a great camera system that’ll keep your inner shutterbug hooked.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip in the OnePlus 11 5G features ray tracing, the newest jargon you’ll hear as more flagships are released this year. It runs Android 13 OS. While there isn’t a noticeably jaw-dropping boost in graphics when playing Blade Idle and Genshin Impact on the OnePlus 11, the overall lighting, shadows, and illumination effects do appear slightly more realistic. The system automatically cleaned RAM to enhance gaming performance each time I launched a game. The smartphone employs a unique feature dubbed RAM-Vita, a machine-learning technique that chooses RAM that is already in use, releases it from current duties, and reallocates it as and when it is needed to other resource-intensive tasks.
There is no slowing down because the smartphone is powered by the most potent chip available in an Android device right now. The OnePlus 11 earned a spot in the top 2 percentile of smartphones with a staggering score of 10,10,287 in the AnTuTu benchmark tests.
Battery
The OnePlus 11’s 5,000 mAh battery performed admirably! The handset had roughly 20–30% battery life left at the end of each day even though I used the hotspot for the most of my working hours and only engaged in light surfing, gaming, and phone calls. The phone quickly regains its full charge thanks to the 100 W SUPERVOOC charger that is built into it!
Verdict
The OnePlus 11 is an exceptional performer with an excellent camera and battery life, there is no doubting that. Making a flagship device accessible at a price that many other companies would find difficult to achieve is another accomplishment by OnePlus. It’s always encouraging to witness that.
