Tremors felt across Delhi-NCR region
According to Reuters, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 that struck Nepal caused tremors to be felt throughout the capital area.
Tremors from the earthquake were felt throughout Delhi-NCR. The shaking persisted for a few seconds.
The National Centre for Seismology said in a tweet that the 5.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal caused tremors throughout the capital area.
The NCS reported: “Earthquake of Magnitude:5.8, Occurred on January 24, 2023, 14:28:31 IST, Latitude: 29.41 and Longitude: 81.68, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Nepal.”
The 5.9-magnitude earthquake, according to Monika Dahal, director of the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center, was felt in more rural portions of western Nepal. Some areas of the neighbouring country of India were also affected.
In December 2022, three tremors jolted Western Nepal in quick succession.
Videos of internet users tweeting about the earthquake swamped social media.
This happened more than 20 days after the national capital region experienced tremors. A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck Afghanistan’s Hindu Kush region on January 5.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.8 occurred in the Delhi-NCR area on January 1. On January 1, at 1:19 am, an earthquake struck northwest of Jhajjar in Haryana. The earthquake occurred 5 kilometres below the surface of the earth.
A devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck Nepal in April 2015 left about 9,000 people dead and nearly 22,000 injured. Over 800,000 homes and school buildings were also damaged.
